You Say “See” (and point to things)
We say, Show us your teeth, and you smile really big with your teeth showing
You Say “Oh no mama”

Makes Cow sound “moo”
Make monkey sound, which sounds more like breathing than “ooo”
You will not let us clasp your seatbelt in the car, YOU have to do it yourself
After you clasp it yourself, mommy and daddy say “you did it!” and you reply with “I did it!” how to you know to change it to “I” from “you”?? Genius!

You say “tootles” with Mickey when watching Mickey Mouse clubhouse, although it sounds more like ‘tootie” :)

You say “Seriously”
You have a couple new favorite books and they are mostly animal books. One is a flap book and you are starting to memorize the words that are underneath.
Another favorite book is Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you See. You even say "brown bear, brown bear" a couple mumbles and end with "see" when you bring me the book to read. I love it, it's sooo cute!
We started praying with you out loud before bed a couple of weeks ago and you caught on so quickly to say "AMEN"! it's so cute!
As soon as daddy says "in Jesus name", you shout "AMEN!"
You say "messy"
You say "eyes"
You say "cookie"
You say "outside" you LOVE playing outside and especially love the slide.

I'm forgetting a million more things I know it...

One More Makes Four

So this post has been a long time coming.
We have told friends and family we are pregnant with Baby Smith #2 and here is how we found out ourselves.

Back in November I was at the mall with my mom getting new shoes for my little walking machine, Wyatt. When he started walking at 11 months we had him wearing Robeez and now that he was getting better it was time for his first pair of big boy shoes from Stride Rite. Anyway, just before we had gone into Stride Rite we had been at Gymboree looking at their sale rack and I had come across the cutest shirt that said Big Brother on it and it was the last one and in Wyatt’s size. I didn’t know I was pregnant yet so I didn’t even think of buying it. But when we left I couldn’t get it out of my mind. I kept thinking of it as a sign. So, against my better judgment or should I say the part of my brain that was saying don’t buy it you’re gonna jinx yourself, I bought it. While my mom and Wyatt were trying on shoes I snuck out to go to the bathroom but really went and got the shirt.
I was nervous the whole way home. We didn’t get pregnant the first try like we did with Wyatt, we were on month two or three and I just knew I was setting myself up for disappointment. Wyatt and I went and bought some tests on our way home and I couldn’t rip that thing open fast enough.
I was beaming! The words “pregnant” popped up on that sucker before I was even done peeing!

When David got home I played it cool for a while until Wyatt needed his diaper changed and then we did a little costume change as well. Wyatt went running back out to Daddy in the living room and he saw that Wyatt had on a new shirt and what it said and gave me a big, “Whaaaat?” He was totally happy, but we had for sure caught him off guard :)
So in the weeks following Wyatt revealed that he will be a Big Brother by wearing his new shirt. Some also found out from our Christmas Card.

As for mama, I was surprised to find out I got really sick with this babe in the first trimester. I threw up once with Wyatt while unloading the dishwasher. Not the case this time. I lived on the couch for a good five plus weeks. Chasing after a running toddler when nauseous is not a good combo. I’m happily in the second trimester now feeling good, but running into the other things I didn’t like so much…like not being able to sleep on my stomach or back.

Can't wait to meet you Baby!!

Here we are 18 weeks

15 Months!

15 months! We can hardly believe you are this old already!

Here is a list daddy and I made of the words and phrases you say up to this point:

• Dada
• Mama
• Mommy
• Mom
• Baby
• Ball
• Wyatt
• Wow (I taught you to say this to me when I ask how I look)
• Water (you also say WaWa when you want your sippy cup)
• Baba (bottle, although you haven’t had this anymore since you turned 1 and we took it away)
• Shoes
• Stinky (you learned this because we always pass a spot in point loma that smells like a skunk and mommy yells “stinky”)
• Bite (this is how you ask for food)
• Brush or Brushy (what you call your toothbrush and toothpaste)
• Bath
• Uh-oh
• Bye
• No
• Fish (goldfish crackers)
• Papa (david’s dad)
• PooPoo
• PeePee
• Push (you say this to ask to push the doorbell, shut the door, or push the code on the gate to get in)
• Cheese (string cheese)
• Yay (you say this as you've completed something you're proud of while clapping)
• Ya (you say this when I ask if you want something, like certain foods etc...)
• No-No (you say with a finger shake)
• Dog (Rocky was your BFF at Christmas time at Grandmas)
• Hi (currently only said on your cell phone, not to people)
• Hello (same as hi)
• Dora (she's on your yogurt and you love it)
• Oh-No ( I have no idea where you got this…I taught you uh-oh and this you picked up)
• All done! (you say this when you're done eating in your high chair, when i park the car in the driveway at home or you close a book)
• There he is! (you say this when we play peek a boo)

things about you:

• You graduated to size 4 diapers
• you have 16 teeth!!
• you are slowly transitioning into 12-18 month clothing. somethings are still a little too big.
• You won’t let us feed you anymore. You are a big boy and feed yourself. I’m not a fan of the mess I get to clean, but secretly, I’m so proud of you! Even with yogurt everywhere!
• I have told you “no-no” so many times about touching the toilet that now when you come into the bathroom you yell “NO” at it. Cracks me up! Buy hey…you don’t touch it anymore!
• Speaking of “no-no” you say “no-no” and shake your finger when saying it like mommy taught you.
• You’re highly obsessed with our cell phones. You walk around all over the house having pretend talks on them.
• We must not feed you enough dinner because as soon as you wake up you ask for a “bite” and run to your highchair.
• You run everywhere! When we let you down at the zoo, you just run and run. Occasionally you will stop and check out an animal or two but then you’re off and running again.
• You love bath time. When Daddy asks “are you ready for your bath”, you run to the door and bang on it. When he gets you out you immediately ask for your “brushy” (toothbrush and toothpaste). You hold one in each hand. in order to let daddy brush your teeth though he has to sing the Raffi toothbrushing song or else you scream.
• We’re currently having to train you to go to bed on your own. You used to calmly come lay down with mommy and fall asleep, but now you just want to play until you drop. You cry for about 2 mins. and you’re out. A couple of nights lately you've just rolled over and fallen asleep, no tears when we set you down!
• You bring me my slippers when you see them lying around. So cute!
• You love climbing up on the couch.
• You are SO good at shape sorters! You just got a new one for Christmas and nailed it on the first try! SO proud of you!
• Daddy and I have caught you throwing away stuff in the trash...and it's actually trash!!! we have no clue how you know the difference????
• Your favorite book is "Who's Baby am I". You even repeat "Polar Bear" when we get to the last page. then say "All done."
• You love your push car especially when we push you all over the Zoo in it.
• You've been pooping in the tub! Just about every night for a week :(
• You give awesome high-fives!
• When we ask you to go get certain things from around the house you bring the correct item back...a few are: books, your golf clubs, legos, clothing items like pants and shirts, sippy cup or snack trap, a diaper, etc... You can't say the words yet but you know what they mean.
• The songs you currently do hand motions to are: “Wheels on the Bus”, “If You’re Happy and You Know It” and “Itsy Bitsy Spider”
• Animals sounds you make: Lion, Elephant, Monkey…we’re working on Dog currently

1 YEAR OLD!

Dear Wyatt,

Happy Birthday Peanut!!!! Today is your very first birthday!

At one year, you weigh around 21 lbs 12 oz. My 9 pounder is growing up!
This past month you have grown and changed so much! The day before you were 11 months you began walking! You are a little parrot and have learned to say so many funny things…including your name which melts my heart every time you say it. “Wy-att”. Your newest is saying “uh-oh!” cause that’s what mommy says over and over when you fall down as you perfect walking :)

When you hear anyone outside you think it’s your “Da-da” and race to the door – and when he finally walks through the door, your face lights up with such joy! I love how you love each other!

You have been the most amazing sleeper starting to sleep through the night at 6 weeks and you're still going strong! Thank you for that gift :)

You are so smart! You have gone from us teaching you “So Big!” and “Peek-a-boo” to learning things by yourself simply by watching us. You mimic us talking on our phones, and how mommy combs her hair. You know that the keys open the door, your cup goes in the cup holder spot on your tray and mommy’s sunglasses go on her face. You are so aware of the world around you. Just last night your friend Jacob dropped his pacifier and you picked it up and put it back in his mouth!

You are currently the pickiest eater alive! You stick out your tongue or spit out anything unfamiliar. You have 11 teeth!! Let’s use em!

Currently your favorite thing to do with a book is close it - we’ll work on that one in the coming year. You love bath time and for several months now you stand the entire time – its rather nerve racking.

I love the way you say "Mama" when you're hungry, tired, sick, upset, got scared or just all-around over whatever it is you’re doing, as if that one word, that one person -- me -- is all you need to feel better. You say “Dada” all the rest of the time…and that’s ok with me :)

I love when you follow me around the house, and those open mouth kisses I beg for daily! You're fiercely independent, and you much prefer to do what you want to do, and only when you want to do it. Everything you do, you do without fear of the consequences. You fall and get right back up again. We never know if each time you fall if it’s going to be one that really hurt or just a bump in the road to you.

Your dimples just melt my heart! I prayed so hard that you would have your daddy’s dimples. Thank you God!

My favorite time of the day is bedtime. Because it’s the only time you stop moving and let me hold you...and currently you will only let ME hold you and rock you to sleep. You nuzzle your head into me…I sing, we read books and you hook your fingers around my tank top strap and hold on. When daddy comes to get you and put you in your crib, I just want to hold you for a few more minutes because I know in the morning you’ll be off and running again.

And so big boy, you are 1!!! This past year has been the best of my life. We have such a special bond and I love waking up to your sweet face every morning. Mama and daddy have grown too; We are much better people because you are in our lives.

One year ago today I was holding you in my arms for the first time and my life has never been the same since. You are the center of my world sweet baby boy and I will love you all the years of your life. Nothing will replace this first year, but I so look forward to watching the boy, teenager and man you will become.

I am so thankful to be your Mommy. I am truly blessed beyond words. God knew exactly what He was doing when He gave you to me. He knew that you were exactly what I needed. Grow up strong knowing that I will always be here for you. Let God direct your paths, and you'll really go far.

You’re the answer to all of my prayers, before I even prayed them.

I Love You Wy Wy,

Mama
