We're 2 for 2

I couldn’t help but think that I was going to go to my ultrasound appointment today and the tech was going to tell me it was a girl. It would serve me right for finding out a whole month early what I was having.

But rest assured, everything is the same, and we are still having our baby boy!

At the beginning of our session the tech asked me what I ate for lunch. I laughed cause I had no clue what she was looking at. (I had a chicken caesar salad by the way). I had visions of lettuce floating around past the baby. Turns out the cookie I "also had" had given him a little sugar rush...he was going crazy and she was having a little trouble getting the measurements she needed. I really don't think it was the cookie...I had serious ADD today at work waiting to go to my appointment and I think I just passed it on...sorry tech lady!

Today was very bitter sweet...I loved having the tech go through each perfect little body part, but it also was the last ultrasound I will be having, so the last time I will be seeing him until I give birth to his cute little buns. That's a looooong time to wait, but I know in reality it will just fly by and I'll be wondering where the time went.

Chicago

Aahhh, Chicago...the first of many trips David and I will be taking before baby comes. We were crazy tourists up, down and across town, even with the crazy changes in weather! View from the Hancock Building, Architectural Boat Cruise, Millennium and Grant Park, Navy Pier, Wrigley Field and the Natural History Museum were all spectacular.

David and I had fun playing with our camera at "The Bean" - it's amazing we got a picture with no one in it, there were so many people there

Spring Cleaning? Nesting?

Some call it nesting...I call it Spring Cleaning, but what do I know.
What I DO know, is that the picture below is just the tip of the iceberg!
It is amazing what 5 years of bringing stuff into our home and never getting rid of anything can do.
Our second bedroom has always been a mix of an office, library, guest bedroom, and storage room for all of David's surf, guitar and golf stuff. For the first time in 5 years this room will have a purpose. Slowly but surely over the next couple of month's this hodge podge room will become a Nursery!
I bet you're all wondering where all the stuff that was once in there is going to go?
Don't you worry, I have MAD organizational skills.
Let the nesting begin! :)

Good-bye Junk!!

He's got my Back...I mean Belly :)

So this is the belly at 16 weeks (and David's). It's true, on the weekends, when I eat, he eats, but he's not really getting big, it's all in his head. Everyone can push their stomach out like that...I just can't suck mine in!

Today I had my 16 week appointment and got to hear "his" heartbeat again. I love that sound...my little helicopter. His heartbeat is 143-145 beats per minute. My doctor said everything sounds good, and all my tests are fabulous...She said I'm the perfect amount of pudgy :) I'm a healthy girl!

Thank you to everyone for your help and advice on the maternity clothes. I found some good stuff this past weekend and should be good for a while! As you can see from the pictures, my jeans are still hanging in there!

Maternity Clothes

So ever since I started expanding I've slowly been looking for maternity clothes. Not really liking anything, but not worried about it either since I was still able to wear my current wardrobe. Well that time is quickly passing...like light speed ahead, and suddenly my entire closet is light years away never to be seen again.

I need help! I need to know what has worked for other people, or people you know, or even where you thought you'd shop when you decided to get pregnant. I have to wear corporate casual clothes to work. I've tried Gap, Target, Baby Style and Old Navy (maybe I just haven't tried on the right stlyes?) My main problem is the pants everywhere...is there any style that doesn't give a ton of extra room in the crotch and butt? What are they leaving so much room for down there?

I've never been the girl that tries on 6 outfits in the morning, but as my clothes shrink around me I have become that girl. I'm almost desperate. I can't let another weekend go by without getting some new stuff. Help!

Huntington Beach Getaway

This past Saturday David and I woke up, went to breakfast and then headed up the I-5 to the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa for a weekend getaway. It was like a pre-babymoon. We spent the day walking around Main Street, eating, relaxing, David surfed and I got to go to Fashion Island. On Sunday David surfed again and then it was off to our main destination for the weekend…to get an ultrasound!

Our friends Dusty and Kim had found out before 20 weeks what they were having and after hearing that we just couldn’t wait to find out what we were having too! I researched a bunch of places in San Diego and couldn’t find anywhere that would do it for less than $100. Because the ultrasound relies solely on the baby’s cooperation I didn’t want to be out $100 for nothing, but this place does it for $25, much more in our gambling price range.

On the way to the ultrasound center I had to eat something sweet like they told me to get the baby moving…I proceeded to down an entire bag of peanut butter M&M’s against my will (I’m just not a sweets eater at all, I wish it could have been chips and salsa or something). Thankfully it wasn’t done for nothing…the first second she put the wand on my stomach she goes, “Oh! I think we got a shot already!” she leaves us in the room and goes and gets another technician just to be sure (all while David is peeking around looking at the screen trying to cheat and see before me). They come back, the other tech confirms, and she puts it up on the big flat screen on the wall…and there we see our little boy spread eagle! (For those of you that I told my prediction to...I was right! I don't know why, but I just had a feeling I was having a boy and I couldn't be more excited!)

The rest of the session was fabulous, he was moving so much, stretching, twisting, kicking and opening and closing his mouth. We got a DVD and tons of pictures of the whole experience to share with our families. I highly recommend this to everyone.
